From site builder to a site built for the client
Knighton Countryside Management was running on a GoDaddy site builder page. It was limited in how the business could present itself, and it didn’t reflect the growth of the business’s services. They needed a site that reflected the quality of their work and would make it easier to categorise the many different services they provide.
I designed and built a bespoke WordPress theme from scratch, tailored to the way Knighton works and the services they provide. Because the theme is custom-built rather than based on an off-the-shelf template, the site is lightweight and easy to edit, and it gives them a unique look.
We didn’t want to start again with search rankings, so I mapped every page of the old site to its new counterpart and set up 301 redirects. Meaning existing links, bookmarks and search rankings carry over to the new pages. Visitors who find the old addresses land in the right place, and the business keeps the SEO value it has already built.
